Do you know いきなり団子?
It is a snack popular in the Kumamoto Prefecture area made with
one layer of sweet potato paste and another of anko, wrapped in
mochi. My student's mother gave me some last Wednesday and
they were so yummy. Actually, I really like Japanese snacks.
Especially because I'm lactose intolerant (乳糖不耐症), so I can't
eat chocolate or milk products.
Anyway, it turns out that people around here have never heard of it,
because when I told the students in one of my adult classes, they
couldn't believe the name. They were convinced that I had
misunderstood and all laughed at my "mistake". Well, thanks to
Google and my iPhone, I was able to show them explanations,
pictures and even recipes.
I got the last laugh and teased all of them back too...
