This summer, the mother of one of my students told me
about a special event being held to introduce elementary
and junior high school aged kids to the sport of
Wheelchair Basketball
It was not only a chance to learn about some of the challenges
faced by people who must use a wheelchair in the daily lives,
but also a chance to experience a new sport and find out that
you can enjoy the thrill and challenge of sports, even in a wheelchair.

ShoCela, RyuCela & I went together and we all had chances to try.





It was a lot of fun, but much harder than it looked.


Another cool thing was that one of the teachers was
Shinobu Fukushima (福島 忍)
a member of Japan's Ice Sledge Hockey team which
won the silver medal at the Vancouver Paraolympics.
