Last Monday the 24th was Micela and my 12th wedding anniversary. As it is also Christmas Eve we usually ask Micela's mother to take care of themonsters kids for one evening to allow us to go out for a quiet dinner, but this year Shocela said, "the 24th is your anniversary. I can take care to my brother and sister, so why don't the two of you go out for the evening." We were so surprised and so happy. He has grown and matured so much.
Well, every year we can't decide where to go. Micela prefers French, I prefer steak so we usually go back and forth... This year however, we were both in the mood for Italian. Unfortunately, we don't know of many "fancy" Italian restaurants in Hamamatsu. There is one that we like, but they take forever to prepare anything (we sometimes joke that they must be outside chasing down the chickens and picking the basil). We also wanted to go to La Casa, but of course they were booked solid. So we went downtown and decided to just walk around and take our chances. Of course everywhere that looked nice was already full, or booked with reservations, and we were about to give up and go to some regular Izakaya, when we found a cute little hole-in-the-wall restaurant that was not only Italian but also had a few open tables. We went in, sat down and looked at the menu and were pleasantly surprised... yummy looking dishes and not too expensive. We shared a half bottle of champagne and lots of small dishes. The atmousphere was great (ちょっと暗くてMicelaがいつもよりきれいに見えました)and the food was good, especially the stewed beef .

P.S. Micela - Thank you for 12 great years. We have had more ups and downs than most roller coasters, but have survived them all. You have put with a lot...
